If there is something to steal, I steal it! Pablo Picasso

Miss Bugs are a talented team. I'm particularly loving Lady of the Land (just above) a 3 color silkscreen / 3 color stencil + gold leaf piece on archival Japanese paper.

I'm inspired!!!

I've dug about a bit and discovered that Miss Bugs are a street art couple. A girl/boy combo. Their work features superheroes, monsters and saucy women. It's often in cut out visual form and scattered around urban environments. They have exhibited their work in New York and their prints often sell out quickly. No wonder. They are all rather gorgeous.

The pulse in me quickens when I see this work. It's the kind of stuff that makes me think "I could make something like this". I can see how this is created, at least in part, the digital part. I have my head around the how with digital art, so it gets me excited. Inspired. The fire is lit!

I've often wondered about the ethics of my digital work when I've used other peoples images as a starting place... below is a great quote from Miss bugs about that very topic. So now I can relax and just create, and see where it goes... there'll be no stopping me.

“If there is something to steal, I steal it!” This summarises what a lot of our work is about – the idea of artists stealing from one another. This can be seen in all art movements throughout history. Artists don’t exist in a vacuum; they create work that is informed by what is going on around them, including what other artists are doing. Artists like Van Gogh and Gauguin, Picasso and Braque they fed off each other to some extent, which drove their work and the new concepts they were exploring forward. Each artist brings something new into the mix, moving ideas on and making the work their own.
